Backend Engineer

About the role

Fresco is seeking a Backend Engineer to strengthen its KitchenOS platform. Reporting to the Engineering Manager for Platform & Firmware, you will build core backend capabilities and support production operations for a global smart‑kitchen ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement reliable, scalable Python backend services for IoT devices and mobile clients across ~20 Lambda‑based micro‑services (Python 3.14, AWS CDK, aws‑lambda‑powertools).
• Cover domains such as device control, cooking sessions, media, recipes, authentication, AI, and more.
• Participate in the full application lifecycle, from development to deployment and monitoring.
• Execute cloud‑to‑cloud integrations with new partner brands.
• Join an on‑call rotation (one week every 4‑5 weeks, remunerated) to ensure platform stability.
• Stay current with industry innovations and emerging technologies.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience building backend services in Python.
• Strong understanding of event‑driven architectures (EventBridge, SQS/SNS, async patterns).
• Hands‑on production experience with AWS Lambda and CDK.
• Proficiency in observability tools (structured logging, distributed tracing with Datadog or equivalent).
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
