Emergency Case Management Work and Family Life Specialist (Remote)

About the role

The Emergency Case Management Work and Family Life Specialist provides one‑on‑one consultation, education, training, advocacy and crisis‑intervention services to service members and their families. Working remotely, the specialist supports the Fleet and Family Support Program (FFSP) through virtual and in‑person engagements worldwide, including aboard Navy ships.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in regional and installation emergency response exercises.
• Facilitate public awareness campaigns such as Ready Navy.
• Implement emergency response plans and operate Emergency Family Assistance Centers.
• Provide families with required forms, guidance and referrals using on‑ and off‑installation resources.
• Enter all service data into the Fleet and Family Support Management Information System (FFSMIS) and register individuals in the Navy Family Accountability and Assessment System (NFAAS).
• Conduct virtual and in‑person workshops, one‑on‑one consultations, and disaster‑preparedness support.
• Deliver support aboard Navy ships and during Return and Reunions (R&R) events.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in advocacy or case‑management services.
• Ability to assess client needs during critical life transitions and develop individualized action plans.
• Strong coordination skills with installation, community, state and federal resources.
• Excellent communication skills for virtual, phone, email and in‑person interactions.
