Genetic Laboratory Technician (Temporary, 9 months)

About the role

We are seeking a temporary Genetic Laboratory Technician to join our reproductive genetics team in Valencia for approximately nine months, covering a maternity leave. The role supports daily operations in pre‑implantation genetic testing (PGT) and carrier screening, performing a variety of molecular biology and genomics procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out laboratory procedures for PGT‑A, PGT‑SR, PGT‑M and carrier screening, including processing blood samples, embryo biopsies and DNA extracts.
• Perform PCR, qPCR, library preparation and next‑generation sequencing (NGS) workflows.
• Follow and help improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) and contribute to ISO‑15189 quality documentation.
• Prepare reagents, manage inventory and maintain laboratory instruments such as thermal cyclers and sequencers.
• Record all activities accurately in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

Required profile

• Official Laboratory Technician certificate.
• Fluent English (desirable).
• Theoretical and practical experience in a genetics laboratory.
• Hands‑on experience with at least one key technology (PCR, whole‑genome amplification, MLPA, NGS, etc.).

Required skills

• Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and quantitative PCR (qPCR).
• Whole‑genome amplification.
• Multiplex Ligation‑dependent Probe Amplification (MLPA).
• Next‑generation sequencing (NGS) and library preparation.
• Operation of thermal cyclers and sequencers.
• Use of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
