Head of Legal Compliance

About the role

As the Head of Legal Compliance for Spain, you will lead the organisation's compliance framework, ensuring strict adherence to Spanish and EU regulations while supporting business growth and innovation. You will act as a senior advisor to the executive team and champion a culture of integrity across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and continuously improve the compliance framework, policies and internal controls.
• Serve as the primary liaison with the Bank of Spain, CNMV, SEPBLAC and other regulatory bodies.
• Oversee AML, CTF, KYC, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring and fraud prevention programmes.
• Ensure compliance with Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), PSD2 and related ICT risk‑management initiatives.
• Provide strategic advice on regulatory developments, compliance risks and new business initiatives, embedding compliance considerations into products and services.

Required profile

• Extensive compliance experience in banking, fintech, payments or other regulated financial services.
• Proven track record interacting with the Bank of Spain, CNMV and SEPBLAC.
• Previous senior roles such as AML Officer, MLRO or Compliance Officer.
• Deep knowledge of Spanish and EU financial regulations.
• Experience implementing compliance frameworks in fast‑changing environments.

Required skills

• Anti‑Money Laundering (AML) and Counter‑Terrorist Financing (CTF) expertise.
• Know‑Your‑Customer (KYC) processes and sanctions screening.
• Transaction monitoring and fraud prevention techniques.
• Regulatory knowledge of DORA and PSD2.
• ICT risk management and operational resilience.
