Lead/Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Rover is looking for a Lead/Senior Software Engineer to help build safe, personalized pet‑care experiences. You will work on customer‑facing products that improve the lives of pets and their owners, collaborating with a diverse team in Barcelona.

Key responsibilities

• Turn loose requirements into concrete technical solutions and drive projects to completion.
• Design, develop, and maintain front‑end features using ReactJs or React Native.
• Build and enhance back‑end services in Python, preferably with Django.
• Define and optimise relational database schemas and ensure data integrity.
• Champion automated testing, code quality, and best engineering practices.
• Explore and integrate AI‑assisted development tools to improve productivity.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong passion for Rover’s mission and a user‑centric mindset.
• Ability to work autonomously, collaborate across functions, and communicate in English.
• Experience with agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, or XP.
• Love for pets and a desire to make a positive impact.
