Medical Assistant

About the role

The Medical Assistant works closely with physicians and the care team to deliver both clinical and administrative support in a primary or specialty outpatient setting. This position ensures smooth patient flow, prepares exam rooms, and assists with patient care tasks while maintaining a safe, sanitized environment.

Key responsibilities

• Greet patients in person and by phone, escort them to exam rooms and ensure proper preparation.
• Take vital signs and perform ancillary tests as directed.
• Prepare and stock exam rooms with necessary supplies for examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Apply dressings, bandages, and splints under provider guidance.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Coordinate communication between patients, providers, and external entities.
• Perform additional medical assistant and office duties as needed.

Required profile

• 1‑2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably in an outpatient practice (podiatry preferred).
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current American Heart Association CPR certification or ability to obtain it within the required timeline.
• Certification from an approved medical assistant program or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• Critical thinking, good judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision once trained.
• Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations and adapt to new technologies.

Required skills

• CPR certification (American Heart Association).
• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Efficient typing and data entry abilities.
