Senior Accountant – French Entities (Bilbao)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to manage the full accounting cycle for French legal entities from our Bilbao office. The role combines technical accounting expertise with a strong focus on compliance, reporting, and collaboration within an international manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure accuracy and compliance of accounting records under IFRS and French GAAP, including balances, reconciliations, provisions, stock movements and loan updates.
• Prepare and record journal entries for assets, liabilities, inventory, revenue and expenses following group policies.
• Maintain balanced accounts, verify postings, reconcile transactions and resolve discrepancies.
• Review and validate travel and expense claims for correctness.
• Execute month‑end and year‑end closings with full documentation of balance‑sheet items.
• Prepare financial reports in line with IFRS, group standards and local statutory requirements.
• Support internal and external auditors during the annual audit.
• Prepare VAT and other tax filings, assist external tax advisors and manage tax inspections.
• Participate in process improvements and the implementation of new tools and systems.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in financial accounting or audit, covering the general ledger and full balance‑sheet responsibilities.
• Relevant academic qualifications (e.g., Master in Accounting, CPA/CIMA, CPC‑AECA, DESCF).
• Experience in a manufacturing or complex international organization; experience in France is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and French GAAP.
• Fluent in French and English; Spanish is a plus.
• Detail‑oriented, proactive and collaborative mindset.
