Senior Project Manager

About the role

Group-IPS is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead a large industrial project based in Italy, operating from its Madrid office. The role involves end‑to‑end delivery, acting as the client’s trusted partner on site and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for all project phases, from consulting and design through execution and close‑out.
• Lead planning, budgeting, cost estimation, quality management, permitting, procurement and contract administration.
• Serve as the main interface with clients, contractors, authorities and internal engineering teams.
• Manage project documentation, weekly site meetings, minutes and monthly progress reports.
• Review and validate contractor certifications, progress claims and variations.
• Identify, assess and mitigate project risks, ensuring milestones and contractual obligations are met.
• Integrate contractor schedules into a master plan and adapt to site constraints.
• Supervise on‑site and off‑site activities, ensuring compliance with safety, quality standards and local legislation.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and support decision‑making under time and cost pressure.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Industrial, Mechanical or related).
• 15–20 years of proven experience managing large‑scale industrial projects, preferably in primary industry, metals, mining or steel.
• Extensive on‑site construction and execution experience on complex industrial sites.
• Fluent in English and Italian; Spanish is an asset.
• Valid driver’s licence (category B).

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience using MS Project for scheduling.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD for technical drawings.
