Staff DevOps Engineer – Cloud Big Data Platform

About the role

We are looking for a Staff DevOps Engineer to own and operate our new cloud‑based Big Data platform built on the IONOS cloud infrastructure. You will work with cutting‑edge, non‑commercial technologies and ensure the platform’s stability, performance and continuous evolution.

Key responsibilities

• Shape, deploy and maintain the cloud Big Data platform infrastructure, taking full ownership of operational stability.
• Provide L2/L3 support for internal data engineering teams, troubleshoot pipeline failures and optimise performance.
• Gather requirements and implement additional platform services in close collaboration with stakeholders across 11 divisions.
• Participate in 2‑week sprints, aligning with agile team processes while working independently.
• Define and improve operational processes and platform optimisation setups.
• Progress towards product ownership of the platform, driving system evolution.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in operations, system administration or infrastructure‑focused DevOps roles.
• Strong autonomy, problem‑solving attitude and ability to share knowledge with the team.
• Good written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Advanced Linux system administration.
• Infrastructure‑as‑code and CI/CD tools: ArgoCD, Terraform.
• Container orchestration with Kubernetes.
• Experience with open‑source data stack tools such as Trino, Hive, Airflow, OpenShift, Prometheus, Grafana.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts.
