AI Backend Engineer

About the role

Olumia is building a platform that consolidates AI‑tool spend and usage across vendors. As the AI Backend Engineer you will own the entire backend stack – from data pipelines that ingest vendor data to the scoring engine, forecasting system, and public APIs that power the product.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain vendor data pipelines that pull spend, seat, and usage data from tools such as Cursor, Copilot, Claude, handling authentication, rate limits, and scheduled syncs.
• Define and evolve a multi‑tenant PostgreSQL/Supabase schema with row‑level security and strong data integrity.
• Build the rightsizing engine that detects wasted seats, calculates blended per‑seat rates, and generates reclamation recommendations.
• Implement forecasting and alerting mechanisms to predict excess spend and notify users of spikes.
• Develop edge functions, scheduled jobs, and internal APIs that keep data fresh and expose clean contracts to the frontend.
• Ensure reliability, performance, and security of the backend, including deployment, monitoring, and roadmap planning.

Required profile

• 4+ years of backend development experience, primarily in Node.js or Python.
• Strong expertise with PostgreSQL (or Supabase) and multi‑tenant data modeling.
• Proven track record integrating third‑party APIs and normalising external data.
• Solid ETL instincts: scheduled syncs, idempotency, and partial‑failure handling.
• Experience shipping SaaS or API‑driven applications where numerical accuracy is critical.
• Ability to design clean API contracts for frontend consumption.
• Independent, end‑to‑end ownership in a fast‑moving early‑stage environment.
