Data Platform Engineer - Snowflake

About the role

DWS's data infrastructure team builds the secure, scalable and trustworthy foundation for storing, processing and distributing enterprise data. As Data Platform Engineer - Snowflake, you will combine data and platform engineering expertise to design, build and continuously improve the cloud-based data platform, working in Madrid.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the end-to-end architecture and design of cloud data platform components, keeping them scalable, secure and maintainable.
• Work with product owners and stakeholders to turn requirements into user stories and solution designs, then implement and test the platform capabilities.
• Design and develop reusable components for data ingestion, transformation and distribution that improve delivery speed, consistency and reliability.
• Build and maintain infrastructure components using Terraform and other infrastructure-as-code and automation tools.
• Collaborate with architects, security engineers, control functions and the Chief Data Office to strengthen regulatory compliance, security and platform reliability.

Required profile

• At least three years of experience in platform engineering, data engineering or a related field, ideally focused on enterprise data platforms.
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline is an advantage.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
• Proven ability to use AI tools to boost productivity and optimise workflows, with critical judgment on the responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.

Required skills

• Strong expertise in the modern data stack, with a focus on Snowflake and solid data engineering fundamentals.
• IaC such as Terraform, automation and orchestration tools such as dbt and Airflow.
• Very good programming in Python and/or Java.
• SDLC tools including Git, JIRA, Artifactory and GitHub.
