Data Scientist (Privacy)

About the role

Datavant, a data collaboration platform for healthcare, is looking for a Data Scientist (Privacy) to join its Privacy Science team within Privacy Solutions in Barcelona. The role assesses client information for the re-identification risk to patients, works on real data and contributes to research on re-identification risk. The position is hybrid, with two days per week in the office in Gracia.

Key responsibilities

• Critically analyse large health datasets using standard and bespoke software libraries.
• Discuss findings and progress with internal and external stakeholders.
• Produce high-quality reports summarising findings.
• Contribute to research on novel and established sources of re-identification risk.

Required profile

• MSc or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or a similar field.
• Good understanding of statistical probability distributions, bias, error and power, and of sampling and resampling methods.
• Ability to apply scientific methods (experimental design, exploratory data analysis, hypothesis testing) to real-world data.
• Strong time management, excellent communication and meticulous attention to detail in reporting.
• Initiative to research new topics and awareness of data privacy and security needs and relevant legislation.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python for data analysis.
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services cloud storage and computing.
• Bonus: SQL, LaTeX, detailed knowledge of a type of health information such as genomics, and public sector experience.
