DevOps Engineer – Monitoring & Observability

About the role

Join the team responsible for the development and operation of monitoring and data‑analytics tools for Deutsche Telekom Germany’s Network Control Platform. As a DevOps Engineer you will own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of our monitoring platforms, driving improvements across traditional and cloud‑native environments.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and continuously improve monitoring and observability platforms.
• Administer tools such as Checkmk, Grafana and Kibana.
• Design monitoring concepts for VMware and Kubernetes‑based infrastructures.
• Implement observability using OpenTelemetry (metrics, logs, traces).
• Build dashboards, alerting rules and operational KPIs.
• Automate monitoring tasks, configurations and deployments with DevOps practices.
• Integrate monitoring components into CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with platform, infrastructure, development and operations teams.
• Create and maintain technical documentation in English.

Required profile

• Strong experience with monitoring tools (Checkmk, Grafana, Kibana).
• Good understanding of OpenTelemetry and modern observability concepts.
• Solid Linux administration skills.
• Experience with VMware and Kubernetes environments.
• Familiarity with container runtimes such as Docker.
• Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD tools (GitLab, GitLab CI/CD, Artifactory, Git).
• Proficiency in scripting/programming with Python and Bash.
• Experience with APIs, YAML and JSON.
• Basic networking knowledge (DNS, load balancing, firewalls).
