High Voltage Cable Engineer - Underground HV Cable System

About the role

Ramboll is hiring an Electrical Engineer for its Power Systems department in Madrid, within the global Energy division. The team of more than 50 HV, MV and LV specialists focuses on offshore wind, power-to-X, carbon capture and energy transition projects, covering concept and feasibility studies, detailed engineering, EPC and follow-on engineering. The engineer will review project documents, carry out gap analysis and prepare technical reports, and manage client and third-party matters such as civil, substation and crossing works.

Key responsibilities

• Cable rating and thermal calculations
• Underground cable bonding design, jointing arrangements and assessment of interfaces with transition joint bays, substations and civil works
• Underground cable route development and installation strategy (direct burial, HDD and drilling, crossing design)
• Site visits before and during installation, commissioning support, cable factory visits and test inspections during manufacturing (travel abroad may be required)
• Preparation of inspection and test plans, evaluation of test results and involvement in non-conformances during manufacturing, installation and commissioning

Required profile

• University degree in Electrical Engineering
• At least 2 years' experience in underground HV cable system route design, civil works and installation, 66 kV up to 400 kV
• Fluent English; Dutch and German are a big plus for dealing with local clients
• Junior or graduate candidates with cable system design experience during their degree are welcome

Required skills

• Experience with Cymcap or other cable rating software
• Experience with cable-related international and local standards
• Experience with cable accessories is a plus
