HPC Network Engineer

About the role

Mirantis, a Kubernetes-native AI infrastructure company, is looking for an HPC (High Performance Computing) Network Engineer to join its infrastructure team in Barcelona. The role suits engineers with a strong networking foundation who want to deepen their expertise in InfiniBand, HPC/AI infrastructure and network security using Fortinet technologies. You will work alongside senior engineers to operate, troubleshoot and improve high-performance networks, with a clear path toward Senior HPC Network Engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Support the deployment, configuration and maintenance of InfiniBand and Ethernet network infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot network issues such as connectivity, latency and performance degradation.
• Monitor network health and performance, identify bottlenecks and help document configurations and procedures.
• Work with InfiniBand switches, HCAs and subnet managers under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Manage and troubleshoot Fortinet solutions (FortiGate, VPNs, firewall rules).
• Assist with network configurations, routing and segmentation.
• Collaborate with compute and storage teams on HPC and AI workloads and take part in incident response.
• Learn automation tools and practices such as Ansible and scripting.

Required profile

• 2-4 years of experience in networking, system engineering or infrastructure roles.
• Basic understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching and VLANs.
• Familiarity with Linux and command-line tools.
• Exposure to data center networking or distributed systems environments.
• Strong willingness to learn InfiniBand and HPC networking.
• Preferred: exposure to InfiniBand, Fortinet or other firewall technologies, basic Bash or Python scripting, and knowledge of monitoring tools.
