Principal HPC Network Engineer (Remote in the EU)

About the role

Mirantis, a Kubernetes-native AI infrastructure company, is looking for a Principal HPC Network Engineer to design, deploy, manage and troubleshoot high-performance networking environments. The role focuses on InfiniBand fabrics and Fortinet solutions, and is remote within the EU.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and maintain high-performance network infrastructures for HPC environments, with a focus on InfiniBand fabrics.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues across InfiniBand and Ethernet environments to ensure minimal downtime.
• Manage and optimise InfiniBand components such as switches, HCAs, subnet managers and fabric configurations.
• Perform performance tuning, monitoring and capacity planning for HPC networking systems.
• Implement and maintain network security using Fortinet solutions (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer).
• Diagnose routing, switching, latency and throughput issues in hybrid networks.
• Collaborate with compute, storage and platform teams on HPC workloads and cluster operations.
• Develop and maintain documentation of network architecture, configurations and procedures.
• Take part in on-call rotations and escalate critical incidents.
• Lead or contribute to network upgrades, migrations and new deployments.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in network engineering, focused on HPC or data centre environments.
• Proven experience deploying and troubleshooting Fortinet solutions (FortiGate, FortiManager, VPNs, firewall policies).
• Experience with network performance analysis and troubleshooting tools.
• Familiarity with Linux and scripting for automation (e.g. Bash, Python).
• Preferred: experience with large-scale HPC clusters or AI/ML infrastructure, RDMA, MPI and low-latency networking concepts, certifications such as FCSS/FCNSP, CCNP/CCIE, and automation tools like Ansible and Terraform.
