Industrial Design Engineer (Robotics)

About the role

THEKER is looking for an Industrial Design Engineer to create enclosures, housings and structural parts that protect and showcase its robotic technology in real‑world environments. You will work on fast‑paced hardware projects, turning concepts into production‑ready designs.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical enclosures, brackets and housing for sensors, control units and end effectors.
• Develop CAD models, select appropriate materials and define manufacturing processes (injection molding, sheet metal, machining, etc.).
• Collaborate closely with electronics, controls and mechanical engineers to meet functional, thermal, ergonomic and aesthetic requirements.
• Take designs from sketch through prototyping to industrial‑scale production, ensuring DFM compliance and tolerance stack‑up.
• Evaluate existing designs, understand constraints and adapt them for volume production without compromising performance.

Required profile

• Degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience designing physical products or enclosures for electronic/industrial systems, from concept to manufactured part.
• Strong command of CAD for mechanical design (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo or equivalent).
• Familiarity with 3D design and modeling software.
• Working knowledge of industrial manufacturing methods for plastics and metals, including cost implications.
• Ability to size and adapt designs for protection, thermal behavior, ergonomics, assembly and appearance.
• Based in Barcelona or willing to relocate (100% on‑site role).
