Infrastructure Engineer (Hybrid, Freelance)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join our Barcelona team on a freelance basis. The role supports the management, evolution, and continuous improvement of a hybrid IT environment, ensuring high operational quality and rapid incident resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor daily services and maintain operational quality.
• Own and resolve critical P1/P2 incidents.
• Drive incident reduction through problem management and continuous improvement.
• Support new requests, changes, and infrastructure upgrades.
• Administer on‑premise Windows/Linux servers, hardware, SAN, and virtualization platforms.
• Optimize VMware and Hyper‑V environments.
• Automate provisioning, patching, configuration, and reporting.
• Enhance infrastructure security and manage obsolescence.
• Maintain IT asset inventory and collaborate with application, connectivity, security, and cloud teams.

Required profile

• 5+ years of IT infrastructure management experience.
• Strong Windows and Linux systems administration background.
• Hands‑on experience with VMware and Hyper‑V in hybrid settings.
• Proficiency in VIM and Linux troubleshooting.
• Solid scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python, Terraform, Ansible, GitHub).
• Experience with backup solutions and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Knowledge of networking protocols, patch management tools, and ITIL processes.
• Fluent English and strong teamwork attitude.
