Low Observability Engineer

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Low Observability (LO) Engineer to join its LO Engineering Spain Department in Getafe. The role focuses on analysing and reducing the multi‑spectral signature of military aircraft through advanced electromagnetic (EM) simulation and testing.

Key responsibilities

• Perform advanced LO analysis and Radar Cross Section (RCS) predictions using both proprietary and commercial EM simulation tools.
• Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews, proposing geometry and material modifications to meet LO requirements.
• Prepare complex CAD geometries for accurate electromagnetic solver results.
• Post‑process large simulation datasets and translate findings into clear design recommendations.
• Develop test plans and validate simulation outcomes against measurements of real prototypes.
• Research stealth technologies and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the field.

Required profile

• Degree in Telecommunication Engineering, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Physics.
• Strong foundation in EM theory, including scattering, radiation, material properties and wave propagation.
• Ability to work autonomously on complex problems and collaborate effectively within a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with EM simulation tools such as FEKO, CST and HFSS.
• Experience using CAD management tools (e.g., CATIA, GiD, FreeCAD, Hypermesh) for pre‑ and post‑processing.
• Scripting in Python for automation of data processing workflows.
• Knowledge of signature measurement processing algorithms (e.g., ISAR).
• Familiarity with computational electromagnetics methods: MoM, FDTD, FEM, PO/PTD.
• Understanding of High‑Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
