Machine Learning Engineer (MLOps & AI Integration)

About the role

Airbus Helicopters is hiring a Machine Learning Engineer in Albacete, Spain, to bridge the gap between Data Science Proof of Value projects and enterprise-scale production. The role sits in the Digital Innovation Team of the Transformation Department, working closely with the IT teams in Albacete and with the hubs in Marignane (France) and Donauwörth (Germany). It is not an exploratory data science or pure modelling role: it is a hands-on software and ML engineer who understands IT infrastructure, CI/CD and how to scale AI solutions securely.

Key responsibilities

• Industrialize ML models from PoV to production on OpenShift (on-premise) and GCP, and build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for secure deployments.
• Integrate AI solutions such as chatbots, LLMs and predictive APIs into business applications, including data ingestion pipelines for RAG architectures and vector/graph databases.
• Set up dashboards to monitor model health, API performance and data drift, and optimize CPU/GPU usage.
• Create standardized Docker/Git templates and starter kits for new PoVs, maintain optimized environments and resolve dependency issues.
• Act as a technical liaison between the international innovation team and the local IT department, translating compute needs into IT architecture specifications and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards.

Required profile

• 3 to 4+ years of full-time, post-graduate experience in machine learning engineering, MLOps or software engineering; an established corporate track record is required.
• Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Artificial Intelligence.
• Fluency in English and Spanish is mandatory; French or German is a plus.
• Openness to occasional travel to Marignane and Donauwörth.

Required skills

• Infrastructure: OpenShift AI (on-premise) and GCP, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Databases: PostgreSQL (pgvector), Elasticsearch, Neo4j.
• Programming: Python (advanced), FastAPI, OOP, APIs.
• MLOps: MLflow, Git, GitLab CI/CD.
• Data science tools: Pandas, Scikit-Learn, Streamlit, LangChain, Grafana/Kibana.
