Release Engineer

About the role

Air Apps, a family-founded company building an AI-powered Personal & Entrepreneurial Resource Planner, is looking for a Release Engineer. You will ensure the smooth, reliable and efficient release of its applications, overseeing versioning, build management and deployment workflows so that new features and updates reach users seamlessly. The role works closely with development, QA, DevOps and product teams to streamline and automate release cycles. This is a fully onsite position in Lisbon, with relocation support offered.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and optimize release pipelines for smooth software deployments.
• Define and maintain versioning strategies across environments.
• Coordinate with engineering, QA and DevOps teams for timely, stable releases.
• Automate and improve build, release and deployment processes.
• Monitor and troubleshoot release issues to minimize downtime.
• Maintain documentation for release workflows, rollback plans and deployment strategies.
• Ensure compliance with security, performance and quality standards.
• Use CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI) to manage automated releases.
• Implement feature flagging for controlled rollouts and analyze release performance.

Required profile

• Around 3+ years of experience in release engineering, DevOps or build/release management.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI, ArgoCD).
• Strong understanding of Git and branching strategies (GitFlow, trunk-based development).
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Knowledge of scripting languages (Bash, Python or PowerShell) for automation.
• Familiarity with mobile and web build systems (Xcode, Gradle, Webpack).
• Agile experience, strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
