Remote R Engineer – AI Data Services

About the role

We are looking for a remote R Engineer to join SME Careers, a fast‑growing AI Data Services company. In this hourly‑paid contract you will evaluate AI‑generated responses, create high‑quality R‑based content, and help improve the reasoning and statistical rigor of large language models.

Key responsibilities

• Review AI‑generated answers, assess accuracy, clarity, and adherence to prompts.
• Identify statistical or data‑wrangling errors and fact‑check analytical results.
• Write expert‑level explanations, model solutions, and reusable R functions or packages.
• Rate and compare multiple AI responses based on correctness and reasoning quality.
• Develop detailed prompts and responses to train AI models across diverse topics.
• Test models for biases or inaccuracies and validate their reliability.

Required profile

• 2+ years of hands‑on experience using R for data analysis, statistics, or data science.
• Strong proficiency in data wrangling, functional programming, and package development in R.
• Solid grounding in applied statistics (regression, inference, model validation) with practical implementation in R.
• Experience building end‑to‑end analyses: cleaning, exploration, modeling, and visualization.
• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Significant experience using large language models to assist with coding or analysis design.
• Excellent English writing skills (C1 level) and ability to explain complex concepts to non‑experts.
