Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

Fever, a tech platform for culture and live entertainment, is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer (Software Engineer) based in Spain, with 100% home-office flexibility. The engineer joins the engineering team behind the iOS and Android apps and the website, which create, develop, improve and maintain all Fever services. The role is open to candidates who care about code quality and want to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• First month: structured onboarding, setting up the local environment, learning the Python-based stack, CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure, and having the first code run in production.
• After 3 months: design and implement end-to-end features, take part in architectural discussions and propose improvements to services and APIs, and work with event-driven systems focused on performance, reliability and scalability.
• By month 6: take ownership of core components and help evolve their architecture, lead by example through code reviews, design sessions and mentoring, and contribute to best practices in scalability, observability and system design.

Required profile

• Proven software development results and experience, with a strong focus on code quality.
• Proficiency in business English.
• Ability to deliver code from development to production.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of best practices, testing and design patterns.
• RESTful APIs (implementation and consumption).
• Relational databases and SQL.
• Event streaming platforms such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Handling services with high concurrency and high volume requests.
• Nice to have: Django/Flask, PostgreSQL and Redis, AWS, Docker and Kubernetes.

• Base salary of 50K-75K EUR, total compensation of 67K-90K EUR including variable pay and stock options.
