Senior Project Engineer

About the role

ABB is looking for a Senior Project Engineer to support engineering and service activities across a range of process automation projects in Madrid. Working under senior engineers, you will ensure tasks are delivered cost‑effectively, safely and in line with contract specifications and cybersecurity standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform basic surveys, calculations, design drafts and CAD work for DCS/ICS projects.
• Support application engineering, HMI development, 3rd‑party communication interfaces, FAT and SAT activities.
• Assist in contract management by identifying variation requests and preparing claims.
• Follow project plans and cost estimates to guarantee timely, quality delivery within budget.
• Contribute to risk assessments and technical risk handling.
• Engage with customers, contractors and suppliers; support RFQs, vendor reviews and project execution.
• Deliver installation, commissioning and maintenance services, coordinating technicians as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in automation engineering with focus on process automation.
• 10+ years of hands‑on experience in process automation systems, especially DCS/ICS.
• Proven experience in design, configuration, testing and commissioning of control systems.
• Strong decision‑making, leadership and organisational skills.
• Ability to work on multi‑discipline projects.
