Senior Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Unified Compute team and take ownership of the application layer that enables customers to configure, run, and pay for compute resources. The role involves building backend services for compute provisioning, multi‑tenant usage tracking and billing across cloud and on‑prem environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement the integration between Seqera Intelligent Compute and the Seqera Platform.
• Own platform compute environments across AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, HPC schedulers and GPU‑enabled executions.
• Build against cloud provider APIs, handling partial failures, quota limits and provider‑specific quirks.
• Develop accurate metering, usage tracking and pay‑as‑you‑go billing pipelines.
• Design consistent data models and REST APIs that evolve across releases.
• Turn raw provider and scheduler errors into user‑friendly messages and add observability for faster incident diagnosis.

Required profile

• 4+ years building and operating production backend services with end‑to‑end ownership.
• Strong expertise in Java and/or Groovy, using Micronaut, Spring Boot or similar frameworks.
• Hands‑on experience with at least one major cloud provider’s API for provisioning resources.
• Practical experience running workloads on Kubernetes.
• Demonstrated rigor in data correctness, especially in billing or metering contexts.
• Comfortable designing REST APIs, data models and maintaining integrations across versions.
