Senior Study Leader

About the role

Novartis is looking for a Senior Study Leader based in Barcelona (Gran Via), Spain, to lead global clinical studies from planning through delivery. The role sits at the heart of clinical trial execution, partnering with cross-functional experts to drive complex studies, shape study strategy and champion operational excellence. Key responsibilities

• Lead global clinical studies from planning through delivery, ensuring quality, timeline and budget objectives are met.
• Co-lead cross-functional clinical trial teams and develop operational strategies, timelines and risk mitigation plans.
• Partner with internal experts and external vendors to deliver high-quality clinical trial activities.
• Monitor study progress, resolve issues proactively and maintain inspection readiness throughout the study lifecycle.
• Foster an inclusive, high-performing team culture and drive operational excellence through process improvements and agile ways of working.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Healthcare or another clinically relevant discipline.
• Significant experience leading clinical studies in pharmaceutical, biotechnology or contract research organisations.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in complex global matrix environments.
• Excellent project management, planning and risk management skills with a track record of delivery.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of international clinical research regulations, quality standards and health authority requirements.
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, negotiation and problem-solving capabilities.

What we offer

• Expected annual base salary range of EUR 63,600 to EUR 118,000, with a possible performance-based bonus.
