Software Developer – IoT Backend Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Software Developer to join our Technology Hub in Alicante. The role focuses on designing, building and owning high‑quality IoT backend applications that support our research and development initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse business requirements and produce functional analysis documentation.
• Design, develop and maintain IoT backend solutions on AWS.
• Define and enforce best‑practice standards for backend development.
• Act as application owner, handling incident resolution and production support (24x7 on‑call).
• Deploy changes across all environments, including production.
• Create operational and technical documentation, KPI reports and observability dashboards.

Required profile

• Master’s or B.A. in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications or related field.
• 6‑8 years of proven IT experience, preferably in agile (Scrum) environments.
• High level of English (minimum B2).
• Willingness to provide one week per month of remote on‑call support.

Required skills

• AWS services (EKS, IoT Core, MSK, S3, SQS).
• Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
• CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
• Containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Secure communications (TLS, HTTPS).
• Monitoring and logging (ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana).
• Networking basics (DNS, NAT, load balancers).
• Scripting (Python, Bash, other languages).
• Microservices architecture and basic Java/API knowledge.
• SQL and database services.
• Hybrid cloud/on‑prem infrastructure.
• Experience with IA agents/tools for software development (optional).
