Team Leader Accountant

About the role

Kaplan International Languages is seeking a Team Leader Accountant to join its finance department in Barcelona. Reporting to the Accountant Manager, you will lead a multi‑country accounting team and ensure accurate financial reporting across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with business units to ensure completeness of the purchase ledger.
• Support forecasting, variance analysis and budgeting activities.
• Drive month‑end close for assigned entities, including AR reconciliation and deferred revenue.
• Perform P&L analysis for OPEX, services, residences and homestay.
• Prepare and post pre‑payment journals and manage the fixed‑asset register.
• Handle utility contract accruals, general OPEX accruals, and residence cost postings.
• Code and post credit‑card accruals and conduct balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Provide ad‑hoc support during internal and external audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with accounting modules.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in accounts payable, accounting and P&L analysis.
• Previous experience in a large corporate accounting environment.
• Familiarity with month‑end processes and audit support.

Required skills

• Intermediate Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data formatting).
