Technical Account Manager – FCC Catalysts

About the role

Join BASF’s Catalysts division as a Technical Account Manager focused on Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) applications for refinery customers across Southern Europe and the Mediterranean. You will act as the primary technical expert, supporting customers to optimise catalyst performance and drive business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the main technical point of contact for FCC catalyst applications at refinery sites.
• Provide hands‑on support, including troubleshooting, unit optimisation and performance improvement.
• Conduct FCC technical evaluations, simulations and modelling to underpin recommendations.
• Advise refinery operations and technical teams on catalyst selection, performance and operational strategy.
• Own full P&L responsibility for assigned FCC accounts (volume, margin, pricing, receivables).
• Develop and execute account strategies aligned with BASF’s FCC business objectives.
• Manage pricing, contract negotiations and commercial terms with refinery customers.
• Deliver accurate sales forecasts and maintain CRM tools for account planning.
• Identify and capture new FCC business opportunities within existing and new accounts.
• Expand account penetration through relationship mapping across technical and commercial stakeholders.
• Represent BASF in customer meetings, technical reviews and industry engagements.

Required profile

• University degree (BSc, MSc or PhD) in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in refining with deep expertise in FCC operations and catalysts.
• Proven track record in a customer‑facing FCC technical or commercial role, including pricing and contract negotiations.
• Ability to perform FCC process analysis, modelling and technical evaluations.
• Familiarity with the Southern Europe/Mediterranean refining landscape.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; knowledge of a Mediterranean language is a plus.
• Willingness to travel approximately 30–50 % of the time.
