UAS Embedded Autonomy Software Developer

About the role

Airbus UpNext Spain is looking for an Embedded Autonomy Software Developer to join the FlightMind team in Getafe. You will work on the software backbone that enables autonomous flight functions across multiple UAS platforms, turning algorithms into robust, real‑time embedded code.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain modular C/C++ and Python components for real‑time, partitioned environments (POSIX, ARINC 653).
• Develop, configure and integrate ROS2 nodes, topics and QoS settings, bridging ROS2/DDS with non‑ROS and RTOS applications.
• Automate code generation from MATLAB/Simulink and build CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab, Jenkins and Docker.
• Create hardware and sensor abstraction layers to decouple autonomy software from specific platforms and support integration on simulation benches and airborne hardware.

Required profile

• Strong expertise in C/C++, Python and Linux development.
• Deep knowledge of ROS2 and embedded real‑time operating systems (e.g., PikeOS, VxWorks).
• Solid understanding of real‑time concepts, determinism and scheduling.
• Experience with model‑based development and automatic code generation from MATLAB/Simulink.
• Proficiency in DevOps tooling, CI/CD pipelines and containerisation (Docker, GitLab, Jenkins).
