Commodity Manager - Strategic Sourcing

About the role

A Commodity Manager position is open within Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe (Madrid), joining the Strategic Sourcing Team. The team orchestrates and executes end-to-end strategic sourcing initiatives for assigned product categories or service groups, works in a multicultural, multidisciplinary setting and collaborates closely with many departments. The role reinforces the Procurement organisation by driving total cost of ownership (TCO) reductions, mitigating supply chain risks and ensuring high-quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement long-term category strategies and sourcing roadmaps aligned with corporate financial and operational objectives.
• Lead complex negotiations on pricing, contractual terms and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to deliver cost savings.
• Manage supplier relationships (SRM) by identifying, vetting and onboarding top suppliers and driving continuous improvement through performance reviews.
• Carry out market intelligence and analysis to anticipate price volatility, commodity trends and macroeconomic shifts.
• Mitigate supply chain risks with contingency plans to ensure business continuity.
• Act as a strategic partner and lead cross-functional alignment with Engineering, Quality, Finance, Programs and Operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in strategic category management, global sourcing and complex contract negotiation.
• Advanced English.
• Strong negotiation, stakeholder management and leadership skills, with adaptability across organisational levels.
