Head of Commercial Division

About the role

This role oversees commercial strategy, performance, and operations across the division, ensuring revenue growth, profitability, and strong client relationships. The position reports to senior leadership and is responsible for driving the commercial success of the freight forwarding and logistics business.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute commercial strategies to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
• Lead business development, new market entry and key account management.
• Deliver agreed revenue, volume and gross profit targets; monitor performance and apply corrective actions.
• Oversee pricing, quotations, tenders and commercial approval processes.
• Manage customer service and commercial support to improve response times and customer experience.
• Provide market intelligence and support strategic planning and new service initiatives.
• Build and lead a high‑performing commercial team; set KPIs and drive accountability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Management or related discipline; MBA or postgraduate qualification advantageous.
• 8–10+ years progressive commercial leadership experience, preferably within logistics, freight forwarding, shipping or related services.
• Strong business planning and commercial management with a proven track record of delivering revenue growth and profitability.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, leadership and communication skills.
• Solid finance skills to understand budgets, margins, pricing and overall financial performance.
• Proven experience in a senior commercial or business leadership role within freight forwarding, logistics or related industries.
