Mobile Audio Developer (iOS/Android)

About the role

Magic Media is seeking a Mobile Audio Developer to create high‑quality, low‑latency audio experiences for native iOS and Android applications. You will work directly with sound designers, product managers, and engineers to build and optimise audio pipelines without relying on game engines.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise native audio systems and pipelines for iOS and/or Android.
• Implement real‑time, low‑latency audio features using Core Audio, AVFoundation, AAudio, Oboe, OpenSL ES, etc.
• Manage audio thread prioritisation, buffer handling and OS‑level real‑time constraints.
• Collaborate with sound designers, composers and product teams to deliver polished audio experiences.
• Debug and resolve audio glitches, drop‑outs, sync drift and latency issues.
• Provide architectural oversight for the application’s audio subsystem.
• Write technical documentation for audio pipelines and platform‑specific implementations.

Required profile

• Strong native mobile development experience in Swift/Objective‑C (iOS) and/or Kotlin/Java (Android).
• Hands‑on experience with native audio APIs such as Core Audio, AVFoundation, AudioUnit, AAudio, Oboe or AudioTrack.
• Solid understanding of DSP, signal processing, sample rates, bit depth, buffering and latency management.
• Familiarity with common audio file formats and codecs (AAC, MP3, FLAC, PCM, Opus).
• Expertise in multi‑threading, especially for real‑time audio processing.
• Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
