Research & Technology Business Developer

About the role

We are seeking a senior professional to turn our technology roadmaps into funded projects by identifying public funding opportunities, building consortia, and securing financing for R&T initiatives in Spain.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse European, national and regional funding programmes (e.g., Clean Aviation, Horizon Europe, EDF, CDTI, MINTUR) to spot strategic opportunities for Airbus Helicopters España.
• Lead capture strategies and prepare high‑quality proposals for public funding, industrial investment and procurement calls, ensuring alignment with technology roadmaps.
• Lobby and influence public and private stakeholders to support the company’s technological strategy.
• Establish early‑stage collaborative consortia with industrial partners, SMEs, universities and research centres across Spain and Europe.
• Coordinate hand‑over from capture to contract signing and support project execution and justification.
• Map global R&T roadmaps against funding mechanisms and communicate findings to internal stakeholders.
• Ensure early‑stage agreements protect Airbus Helicopters’ intellectual property under guidance from the Head of IP.

Required profile

• 10+ years of professional experience, with at least 5 years dedicated to R&D public funding capture in high‑tech, defence or aerospace sectors.
• Strong aeronautical technical background and deep understanding of complex engineering systems.
• Extensive network within Spanish and European funding bodies, especially the Ministry of Defence, DGAM, DIGEID/PLATIN, CDTI and MINTUR.
• Proven track record navigating European programmes (Clean Aviation, Horizon Europe, EDF) and national/regional funding mechanisms.
• Native Spanish speaker with fluent English at negotiation level.
• Ability to work autonomously, drive multi‑partner consortia and travel nationally and across Europe.

Required skills

• Knowledge of European and Spanish public funding programmes and public procurement of innovation processes.
• Experience in preparing collaborative R&D grant proposals and managing capture campaigns.
