Senior Analytics Engineer

About the role

seQura, a Barcelona-founded fintech providing payment technology to merchants, is looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to own the analytics enablement layer across its core business domains. The role builds the trusted, well-governed data foundation that business, product and data science teams rely on, combining data modeling, domain understanding, governance and semantic precision. It sits at the intersection of dbt modeling, semantic layers and data quality.

Key responsibilities

• Unify definitions and govern the canonical KPIs used across the company so they mean the same thing everywhere.
• Build domain data products that serve both operational reporting and ML feature needs.
• Design and ship production-grade dbt models across Payments, Debt Collection, Risk and Finance, with clean, tested and documented SQL.
• Own the governance layer: data contracts, column-level lineage, tests and semantic definitions.
• Structure the semantic layer to be machine-readable and AI-ready, supporting self-serve BI and AI use cases.
• Set standards for testing, documentation and data quality across the analytics engineering team.
• Work with Data Scientists, circle leads and the Platform team, and make cross-domain architectural decisions.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience as an Analytics Engineer with a proven track record of production-grade data models (mandatory).
• Genuine curiosity about the business domains modeled.
• Systems thinking and semantic precision in metric definitions and documentation.
• English proficiency required; Spanish is a plus.

Required skills

• Hands-on dbt experience (modeling, testing, data contracts, documentation) (mandatory)
• Expert SQL on a modern cloud data warehouse (Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake or similar)
• Experience with Python for data tasks is a plus
• Familiarity with data governance and lineage tooling (OpenMetadata or similar) is a plus
• Fintech or financial services knowledge is a plus
