Senior Product Software Engineer - Merchant Area

About the role

seQura, a Barcelona-based fintech providing payment technology for merchants, is looking for a Senior Product Software Engineer for its Merchant Experience team. This is not a frontend or backend-specific role: you will own product initiatives end to end, from understanding the problem to measuring the outcome, working across the full lifecycle of B2B initiatives.

The team builds merchant-facing products such as order management, analytics, self-service capabilities and growth initiatives, and is a small group of senior engineers and a designer with no dedicated product manager. Initiatives are led by engineers who define hypotheses and success criteria and follow up after launch; AI-assisted development is part of daily work.

Key responsibilities

• Own product initiatives end to end, from problem understanding to outcome validation
• Act as Champion for initiatives: gather context, define hypotheses and success criteria, shape the work and drive delivery
• Work directly with merchants, business stakeholders, Product Design and other engineering teams
• Build and operate production software across backend and frontend
• Make pragmatic product and technical decisions with incomplete information, using data, feedback and experiments
• Contribute to evolving the Merchant Portal into a platform other B2B teams can build on
• Use AI throughout the workflow, including exploration, implementation, testing, debugging and learning unfamiliar systems

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience building production software
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and comfort working across backend and frontend
• Comfortable working with ambiguity and incomplete information, with high autonomy and ownership
• Strong product and customer curiosity, and strong written and verbal English
• Nice to have: Spanish fluency

Required skills

• Experience using AI meaningfully in software development
• Nice to have: Ruby on Rails and/or React, strong full-stack experience, platform-building experience, product discovery and experimentation
