Software Manager – Defense Projects (Relocate to Madrid)

About the role

Oesia Group is seeking an experienced Software Manager to lead the development of high‑security, critical software for a defence project based in Madrid, Spain. The role is onsite and requires relocation to Spain.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve the system’s software architecture, ensuring robustness, maintainability and regulatory compliance.
• Lead a multidisciplinary software team, providing technical direction and making key design decisions (frameworks, partitioning, communications, RTOS, etc.).
• Manage the full software lifecycle (requirements, design, implementation, verification, certification) following the V‑Model.
• Coordinate integration and validation activities with hardware, systems and V&V teams.
• Ensure software quality, traceability, and compliance with standards such as PECAL 2210 and DO‑178B/C.
• Participate in technical reviews and audits (PDR, CDR, TRR, QR) and act as the primary software liaison with clients and assessors.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of software development experience in critical or embedded environments.
• Proven experience leading software teams in complex, safety‑critical projects.
• Strong background in software architecture, systems design and formal development standards.
• Willingness and ability to relocate to Madrid, Spain.

Required skills

• C / C++ programming in critical environments
• Embedded systems development and RTOS
• Secure software architectures (cybersecurity, hardening, isolation)
• Experience with standards such as PECAL 2210, DO‑178B/C
• V‑Model lifecycle management
• Requirements management tools (DOORS, Visure) and software traceability
