Tax Associate – Taxation Compliance & Advisory

About the role

The Tax Associate will support the Tax Department in delivering tax compliance and advisory services to medium and large corporate clients as well as individuals. The role involves preparing tax returns, handling communications with the tax authority, and assisting senior staff on client engagements.

Key responsibilities

• Exercise professional scepticism in all tax matters.
• Prepare corporation tax and VAT returns for medium and large companies.
• Prepare quarterly newsletters and assist with the annual budget newspaper.
• Compute VAT, corporation tax, income tax and withholding tax for individuals and companies.
• Draft letters to the BIR for objection to assessment notices, waiver requests and follow‑up of tax and VAT refunds.
• Submit applications for BIR, VAT and NIS registrations, as well as VAT cancellation requests, on behalf of clients.
• Provide ad‑hoc support to senior staff and the Tax Manager.
• Monitor compliance deadlines and liaise with statutory organisations.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing ACCA Level 2 or equivalent professional qualification.
• Enrolled in tertiary business education or related field.
• Minimum five ‘O’ level passes including English and Mathematics, or two ‘A’ levels.
• 2‑3 years of experience in a professional tax or accounting environment.
• Strong understanding of tax compliance deadlines and statutory bodies.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook for email communication.
