Accountant I – Financial Operations

About the role

Brightstar is seeking an Accountant I to support its lottery financial operations in Port of Spain. You will ensure accurate financial records, compliance with statutory requirements, and contribute to reliable reporting for business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Review accounts payable transactions, vendor balances and ensure timely payments.
• Support accounts receivable, monitor outstanding balances and resolve discrepancies.
• Validate revenue accruals and assist with monthly and quarterly revenue reporting.
• Perform reconciliations of balance‑sheet accounts, pre‑payments, intercompany balances and other key records.
• Monitor treasury activities, cash positions, banking transactions and liquidity requirements.
• Prepare statutory filings, tax submissions and regulatory reports.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant (CA) certification or a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Minimum five years of accounting experience in a corporate environment.
• Knowledge of AP, AR, financial reporting, taxation, fixed assets, inventory accounting and general ledger processes.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with accounting systems and financial analysis tools.
