Accountant

About the role

seQura, a Barcelona-based fintech offering payment technologies to merchants and consumers, is looking for a seasoned Accountant to join its Finance team. The role covers general accounting and financial reporting across multiple entities and geographies, with NetSuite experience being critical.

Key responsibilities

• Lead accounting operations across multiple entities and geographies, ensuring accurate financial reporting, tax compliance and regulatory adherence.
• Compile, verify, analyse and record asset, liability, revenue and expense transactions.
• Lead month-end closing: journal entries, reconciliations and recording of income and expenses.
• Prepare and review monthly balance sheets, P&L statements and other financial reports, and consolidate financial statements across jurisdictions.
• Oversee payroll accounting and coordinate with HR on monthly compensation.
• Calculate, record and analyse default provisions for expected credit losses in the consumer lending portfolio.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly tax provisions (VAT, corporate income tax) and support filings and statutory accounts.
• Maintain internal controls and improve accounting processes, including automating reconciliations and optimising NetSuite usage.
• Collaborate with FP&A, Treasury, Operations and Tech teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA, ACCA or equivalent highly preferred.
• 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience; fintech, lending or financial services experience is a plus.
• Fluent English and Spanish, written and spoken.
• Proactive, analytical and collaborative.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Spanish GAAP and IFRS.
• Experience with general ledger, month-end close and financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis).
• NetSuite is critical; experience with any ERP is a plus.
