Accounting Assistant – Full‑time (Port of Spain)

About the role

The Accounting Assistant will join GESSCO Group’s Finance team in Port of Spain, supporting day‑to‑day accounting operations. This full‑time, on‑site position ensures accurate recording of financial transactions and assists with month‑end and year‑end close activities.

Key responsibilities

• Record financial transactions and maintain general ledgers.
• Process invoices and support accounts payable and receivable functions.
• Reconcile bank statements and account balances.
• Prepare basic financial reports and assist with audit documentation.
• Enter data into accounting software and ensure timely, accurate postings.
• Organise financial documentation and provide ad‑hoc reports for internal teams.

Required profile

• Certificate or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Solid understanding of accounting and finance principles.
• Practical experience with bookkeeping and basic financial statement preparation.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication and ability to work collaboratively.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information.
