Accounts Payable Accounting Specialist

About the role

Exoticca, an online travel agency focused on long-distance trips, is looking for an Accounts Payable Accounting Specialist to join its finance team in Barcelona. The role takes over the entire accounts payable cycle, ensures accurate and timely payments for ground travel products, and plays a key part in financial reporting such as balance sheets and cash flow.

Key responsibilities

• Manage A/P-related journal entries, reconciliations and schedules for the year-end close
• Understand the end-to-end flight ticketing and accounting lifecycle, including complex intercompany operations
• Prepare monthly A/P aging, assess collectability, credit quality and customer accuracy
• Review and verify invoices, validating and matching all A/P transactions
• Analyse variances between A/P accounts and budget/prior periods and report key drivers to Finance leadership, working with COGS and Service teams
• Monitor payment hub dashboards and act as the main contact for vendor and internal queries
• Act as functional owner of A/P flows in NetSuite, drive automation of controls and reconciliations, and run monthly reconciliations
• Support external audits by providing documentation, reconciliations and explanations

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics or a related field (Master's or CPA/ACCA a plus)
• 4-5 years of experience in accounts payable, general accounting and billing functions
• Knowledge of national and international taxes, intercompany transactions and payroll
• Fluent English (minimum B2) and Spanish
• Solid understanding of Spanish accounting principles (PGC)
• Big4 experience is a big plus
