Accounts Payable Coordinator

About the role

Sulzer, a leading engineering company, is looking for an Accounts Payable Coordinator to join its Finance & Accounting team in Madrid, Spain. The role sits in the Accounts Payable Controls team of the newly established Madrid office and supports the European companies. You will work with an external shared service centre responsible for master data, invoice processing and payments, and with other country finance functions, procurement and external vendors.

Key responsibilities

• Independently manage the daily accounts payable business with the country's finance team and the external shared service centre
• Handle escalations of supplier queries about incoming accounts payable
• Review payment proposals and ensure they align with the country's compliance requirements
• Monitor and control accounts payable aging
• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements according to IFRS
• Drive process standardisation and reduce inefficiencies, guiding the shared services teams
• Support projects such as system implementations and process optimisations

Required profile

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field
• 3 years of experience in Accounts Payable
• Fluent English; any other European language is a plus
• Analytical and problem-solving skills

Required skills

• Very good written and verbal communication
• ERP knowledge (preferably SAP or Dynamics 365)
