Aerodynamics Engineer (Military Derivatives)

About the role

Aerodynamics Engineer (Military Derivatives) is sought to join the core engineering team in Getafe. The role covers the aerodynamic design and characterization of air inlets and outlets, and some experience with complete aircraft, fuselage and empennage. It plays a key part in the aerodynamic integration of systems and APU from concept to detailed design, and requires deep expertise in CATIA and/or 3DX for surface modeling and extensive CFD experience.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the aerodynamic design and characterization of air inlets and outlets of air systems and APU.
• Develop high-quality surface geometry and 3D models in CATIA and/or 3DX, meeting aerodynamic, structural and manufacturing requirements.
• Run comprehensive CFD simulations to analyse and validate internal and external aerodynamic performance (drag, stability, control).
• Analyse results, prepare detailed technical reports and present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Structures, Propulsion and Systems to deliver an integrated, optimized aircraft design.
• Support wind tunnel and flight testing, from preparation and execution to post-processing and analysis.
• Contribute to improving aerodynamic design methodologies, tools and best practices.

Required profile

• Master's degree or PhD in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
• At least 4-5 years of professional experience in an aerodynamic design role in the aerospace industry.
• Demonstrated experience designing and characterizing air inlets and outlets.
• Strong theoretical knowledge of fluid dynamics, aerodynamics and aircraft stability and control.
• Fluency in English.

Required skills

• Expert 3D CAD surface modeling with CATIA and/or 3DX.
• Extensive hands-on CFD setup, running and analysis.
• Preferred: Ansys Fluent, ANSA and Fluent Meshing, aerodynamic optimization tools (adjoint solvers, MDO), EASA CS-25 certification knowledge, and scripting in Python or MATLAB.
