Aerodynamics Engineer (Military Derivatives)

About the role

Aerodynamics Engineer (Military Derivatives) is sought in Getafe to contribute directly to the manufacturing and in-service support of Airbus's current and future aircraft fleet. The role generates and analyses aerodynamic data for loads, handling qualities and performance, taking part in wind tunnel test campaigns and flight tests within the multidisciplinary, transnational environment of Flight Physics.

Key responsibilities

• Post-process and analyse aerodynamic data to build comprehensive aerodynamic models covering performance, handling qualities and loads in steady and unsteady modes.
• Define, attend and analyse results of wind tunnel tests.
• Define, attend and analyse results of flight tests, including steering flight tests.
• Make decisions in real time based on live telemetry data.
• Ensure optimised aerodynamic solutions and data are delivered to customers on time, cost and quality.

Required profile

• Master's degree or PhD in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in an aerodynamic characterisation role within the aerospace industry.
• Strong experience in numerical aerodynamic prediction tools and in building aerodynamic databases from experimental, flight-test and CFD data.
• Advanced English.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team.

Required skills

• Numerical aerodynamic prediction tools and aerodynamic database generation.
• Knowledge of Python and MATLAB is valuable; programming and scripting skills for process automation and data analysis are preferred.
