Application Engineer (Pre-Sales)

About the role

TOMRA Food, a multinational provider of sensor-based sorting, peeling and post-harvest solutions for the food industry, is looking for a Pre-Sales Engineer or Application Engineer. The role helps customers solve complex processing challenges by combining technical expertise, application knowledge and solution design skills, working alongside customers and sales teams from product demonstrations to system design.

Key responsibilities

• Support the consultative sales process as a technical and application expert.
• Analyse customer processes and production requirements to develop tailored solutions.
• Prepare technical specifications, solution designs, performance analyses, quotations and supporting documentation.
• Design and evaluate processing systems, layouts and integrated solutions, including third-party equipment.
• Run product demonstrations, field trials, testing, validation and performance optimisation projects.
• Analyse operational data to identify optimisation opportunities.
• Deliver technical presentations, webinars, customer workshops and reference visits.
• Train and support Sales and Service teams, and conduct design reviews and project handovers.
• Maintain solution documentation and monitor industry trends and competitor capabilities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, Automation or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience in Agri-Tech, food processing, automation, material handling or equipment-related industries.
• Spanish and English proficiency.
• Experience supporting customers through sales, applications, service or solution development.
• Valid work permit/visa where required, and a valid unrestricted driving licence.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% within the EMEA region.

Required skills

• CAD and design software such as AutoCAD, Inventor or SolidWorks.
• Technical documentation, specifications and customer presentations.
• System design, process evaluation and equipment integration.
