Application Support Specialist - 2nd Level Support

About the role

Julius Baer is looking for an Application Support Specialist for 2nd-level support, working 100% in Madrid. The role provides support services for software, hardware, end-user devices and networks, ensures continuous access to IT services and Live Cycle, and focuses on application management. It involves handling incidents, coordinating with other IT teams and taking part in releases.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the smooth operation of core banking applications through 2nd-level application support.
• Process incident tickets from monitoring systems and the local service desk within agreed SLAs.
• Coordinate with incident managers, application service owners, 3rd-level support, Agile teams and business stakeholders.
• Take over periodic on-call duty (weekly 24/7 rotation).
• Administer change requests and take part in periodic releases, including weekend deployments.
• Contribute to projects on the operational aspects of existing or newly integrated applications.
• Perform routine data cleansing and system maintenance, and drive process optimization and automation, including handover to L1 (Control Center).
• Maintain application operation documentation and the knowledge base.
• Support batch job scheduling and monitoring (e.g. Automic AWA, Control-M or similar).

Required profile

• Completed IT training (degree in Computer Science or equivalent IT-related certification).
• At least 2 years of professional experience in application support.
• ITIL Foundation certification.
• Ideally experience in banking or financial services with knowledge of financial products.
• Good written and spoken English; process-oriented, analytical, proactive and eager to learn.

Required skills

• Strong Linux knowledge (shell scripting is an advantage).
• Solid understanding of Windows OS at server level.
• Familiarity with Java application servers, databases and workload automation tools (AWA experience is a plus).
• Experience with batch job support and scheduling tools such as Automic AWA or Control-M.
