Applications Engineer Intern - Power Electronics

About the role

Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) is looking for a highly self-motivated intern with a passion for hardware and good knowledge of power electronics. The intern supports the validation of new integrated circuits for high-voltage applications (including DC/DC converters, current sensors and isolated drivers) within the hardware department, based in Barcelona.

Key responsibilities

• Design simulated and validated power electronics circuits to meet the required specifications.
• Prepare hardware and software setups, together with the hardware and simulation team, to measure all required parameters of the IC.
• Develop schematics and PCBs for new solutions.
• Develop device modeling (SPICE).
• Work with the IC design team to debug and troubleshoot the device under test.
• Generate documentation and reports of all tests performed.

Required profile

• MS in Electrical or Electronic Engineering; subjects related to power electronics and control are desired.
• Hands-on experience verifying and troubleshooting electronic circuits (firmware and hardware).
• Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
• Good oral and written skills for communication and documentation.
• Self-motivated and strong team player.

Required skills

• Use of electronic laboratory equipment such as oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer.
• Knowledge of power electronics and SPICE device modeling.
