Artificial Intelligence Lead – Insurance

About the role

Santander Insurance is seeking an Artificial Intelligence Lead to shape and execute its AI agenda across the insurance value chain. Based in Madrid, you will drive strategic AI development, accelerate digital transformation, and enhance risk assessment, claims processing, and customer engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive AI strategy aligned with insurance business objectives such as growth, loss‑ratio optimization, and operational efficiency.
• Identify, prioritize, and prototype high‑impact AI and GenAI use cases across underwriting, pricing, claims, and customer service.
• Design, deploy, and monitor AI‑powered solutions that improve combined ratio, customer experience, and scalability.
• Lead cross‑functional teams—including Data Science, IT, Actuarial, Risk, Operations, and Compliance—in solution design and integration.
• Oversee development, validation, and ongoing monitoring of machine‑learning models for predictive analytics and risk modeling.
• Ensure AI solutions comply with regulatory and internal risk‑management standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience developing and executing AI strategies in a financial or insurance context.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex AI projects.
• Strong understanding of insurance processes such as underwriting, pricing, claims, and customer service.
• Experience with model validation, monitoring, and regulatory compliance.
