Assistant Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our Barcelona finance team. You will support the Accountant Manager by handling day‑to‑day accounting tasks and ensuring accurate financial records for our international language school network.

Key responsibilities

• Review and code invoices using Basware.
• Allocate invoices according to reports.
• Assist in preparing monthly shared‑services recharges and issue related‑party invoices.
• Process invoices from related parties and support inter‑company reconciliations.
• Control credit‑card expense claims and record monthly accruals.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register and calculate depreciation.
• Handle pre‑payments, accruals, and balance‑sheet tasks such as suspense clear‑up and payables reviews.
• Provide ad‑hoc support to senior team members as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably with accounting modules.
• 3‑4 years of accounting experience, including balance‑sheet and P&L knowledge.
• Experience working in a large corporation.
• Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data formatting).
• Strong attention to detail and customer‑service orientation.
• Organised, systematic approach with good written and verbal communication.
• Ability to handle high volumes of work to deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Self‑motivated, flexible and eager to develop accounting expertise.
